DR ANDREW J GILCHRIST
Wellness Coaching and Exceptional Health Care
Dr. Gilchrist’s father, Ian Gilchrist, took up running for fitness in the 1950’s at the urging of his PE master at Burton Grammar School in England, Vic Roebuck. The two of them keenly followed Emil Zatopek and Arthur Lydiard at a time when their approach to training was revolutionizing the sport. Years later, he ran his first 10K in 1977 at age 9, as his dad had passed his love of running on to him.
During his high school years in Reno, NV, it was running track and cross country that got him interested in physiology, human performance and ultimately medicine. He finished his medical training at the University of Iowa in 1997 and moved to Oregon. He has been practicing internal medicine and running here ever since.
Dr. Gilchrist has had the privilege of serving as medical director at various community races and as one of the team physicians for the Oregon Track Club Elite squad. He very much enjoy consulting with amateur and professional athletes as they take aim at their running ambitions.
